Jack Harrison’s Leeds contract examined as Fiorentina transfer stance emerges
Jack Harrison looks set to end up back at Leeds United in the summer.
The winger is currently on loan at Fiorentina in Serie A, where he has made 20 appearances with one goal and three assists.
There is an option to make that deal permanent, with a reported £6.9million clause in the agreement to send him to the Italian side for good.
However, a report from Florence newspaper La Nazione on 6 May claims that the chances of that being activated is slim.
Leeds fans have made their feelings clear on the 29-year-old, and surely there is no way back for him at Elland Road.
What is Harrison’s contract situation at Leeds?
Harrison signed a five-year contract with Leeds in 2023, so there is little chance of him leaving in the summer on a free transfer.
He will still have two years left on that deal when he returns to LS11, with it set to run until 2028, which could cause issues for the Whites.

The former Everton man is understood to be on around £44,000-per-week, which totals over £2.3million a year, which is too much for a player who is unlikely to feature much next season.
Therefore, a solution must be found that gets him and his wages off the books, ideally sooner rather than later, so the Yorkshire side are not stuck paying him.
Fiorentina’s stance seems to have become clear, and there will need to be a different club that comes forward.
How has Harrison performed at Fiorentina?
Harrison has not exactly set the world alight in Florence, so it is no surprise that they do not want to take up the option to turn the move into a permanent one.
He has made nine league starts, taking 0.2 shots on target per game, and averaging 0.9 key passes, according to data from Sofascore.
The Peacocks star has scored a goal every 831 minutes, with just a 10 per cent conversion rate in front of goal.
| Harrison’s stats for Fiorentina | Serie A |
| Starts | 9 |
| Goals | 1 |
| Assists | 3 |
| Shots on target per game | 0.2 |
| Conversion rate | 10% |
| Average touches | 39.2 |
| Lost possession average | 11.6 |
He has completed just 34 per cent of his dribbles, and loses possession 11.6 times per game from an average of 39.2 touches, which is far from ideal.
His showings in Italy could make it harder for the Peacocks to find someone who will want to pick him up when the transfer market reopens.
