Leeds United set to regret Joel Piroe decision as bargain exit on cards

Leeds United should have let Joel Piroe leave on loan in the winter transfer window to maintain his value.

Now, ahead of the upcoming transfer window, the Suriname international is staring at an exit from the Whites after struggling for minutes this season.

In the previous campaign, the 26-year-old was one of the hottest prospects at the West Yorkshire outfit after finishing as the Championship’s top goalscorer, but his stock will surely be low right now.

The former Swansea star is undoubtedly not worth what he was a year back and the Elland Road hierarchy may be regretting their decision not to part ways with the centre-forward in the last two transfer windows.

Daniel Farke hasn’t relied on Piroe in the current campaign, with the striker starting just two Premier League games and a bargain exit from LS11 may be on the cards.

Joel Piroe future evident at Leeds United

Piroe has made three appearances in the last 10 Premier League games for Leeds, coming off the bench in the final minutes of games.

It has been surprising to see Farke phase the Suriname international out of the team, effectively turning him into the third-choice number nine.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha were signed as free agents last summer, with the England international becoming the German manager’s main goalscoring outlet.

Piroe will surely be looking to kickstart his career elsewhere ahead of the 2026-27 campaign and the West Yorkshire outfit may have to accept a cut-price fee for him.

Daniel Farke to anticipate big-money striker transfer at Elland Road

Leeds wanted to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen in the winter transfer window and were willing to pay a significant sum.

The former Wolves striker eventually joined Crystal Palace and the Whites will have to look for alternatives to bolster the number nine position in the summer.

Considering the amount of money 49ers Enterprises were willing to spend on Strand Larsen, they clearly have the money to make a marquee signing in the coming months.

Piroe will most likely leave the West Yorkshire outfit in the summer and they can reinvest whatever amount they get back into Farke’s squad.
