Leeds must guard against recency influence as Daniel Farke contract update emerges
Leeds United are reportedly set to hold talks with Daniel Farke over a new deal.
The Whites have had an excellent campaign back in the Premier League, as showcased by the fact that they secured survival with games to spare.
Players like Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Anton Stach have certainly played their part in terms of goals and creativity, while Jayden Bogle and Joe Rodon have pulled their weight at the abck.
But most of the praise belongs to Farke, whose decision to switch to a back five several months ago certainly paid off.
Leeds are due to hold talks with Farke over a new deal, but there is a case to be made that they should hold off for now.

What is Daniel Farke’s contract situation?
Upon the conclusion of the current campaign, Farke will still have one year left on his deal at Elland Road, having signed a four-year contract back in 2023.
TEAMtalk have reported that the Whites’ hierarchy will discuss his future in the coming weeks, with a new deal on the horizon.

Given what he has achieved this season, and against the odds, very few would be able to argue against the fact that he deserves it.
However, there should still be some reservations.
Farke contract talks should be put on hold
While it is one thing to recognise the excellent campaign Leeds have had, it is another thing to recognise the need for progression next season.
As of now, Farke has yet to show whether or not he is the man to achieve that, but based on his Premier League record throughout his career, the signs suggest not.
With one year still left on his deal, Leeds have time to make the right decision with the club’s best interests in mind.
