Daniel Farke’s future at Leeds United in focus as ‘major surprise’ discussed

Daniel Farke‘s future at Leeds United looks safe if the Whites stay in the Premier League, or does it?

Well, stranger things have happened in football, and the 49ers will do a review at the end of the season like normal.

Farke had to battle through uncertainty even after getting Leeds promoted last season, and then fought for his stay in LS11 once again last November.

The German head coach was proactive in his change to a five-at-the-back formation, as it may have been the switch that ultimately kept him in the job.

With Leeds looking likely to avoid relegation, it would be a big shock if Farke was sacked, with fans now fully behind the former Norwich City boss.

It would be a shock to see Daniel Farke sacked

There were strong calls to sack Farke after a defeat to Aston Villa at the end of November, but funnily enough, a 3-2 loss to Manchester City in the following game gave supporters hope.

That proved to transpire onto the players, as the Whites went on a seven-game unbeaten run, picking up results over Liverpool twice, Chelsea, and Man United in that period, and it’s looked up ever since.

When discussing the possibility of Farke being in charge of Leeds next season, The Athletic reported, “It would be a major surprise if not”.

The Whites’ recent record was also brought up in defence of Farke, with Leeds having lost only five games out of their last 26 matches, while beating Manchester United at Old Trafford for the first time in 45 years and reaching a historic FA Cup semi-final.

It’s also been suggested that with the Whites on 40 points and on the cusp of Premier League safety, the season could not have panned out much better.

Many Leeds fans would probably agree with this.

How can the 49ers show their support for Farke this summer?

It’s fair to say that Farke wasn’t helped in the winter transfer window, which only further highlights what a good job he has done.

The 49ers did bid over £30million for Jorgen Strand Larsen, and though a deal never came off, the money was clearly there to spend.

Instead, Farke was given Facundo Buonanotte on loan, and the less said about that transfer, the better.

So all in all, the 49ers owe it to their head coach to give him a new deal this summer, and back him with stretching their limits in the summer window to improve key areas.
