Leeds United’s final Premier League position predicted by supercomputer

Leeds United are potentially days away from securing their Premier League status for a second successive season.

Daniel Farke‘s men have as good as completed their only aim for the season thanks to an impressive run of form.

Last Friday’s 3-1 win over Burnley moved the Whites nine points clear of the drop zone, but that gap now stands at seven.

Still, with only nine points available to play for, Leeds can quietly start to celebrate staying up.

Leeds may already be safe by the time they face Tottenham, but it appears there is little to worry about either way.

Leeds in no danger of being relegated

Leeds are not quite safe from relegation yet, but for that to happen they will need to lose against Tottenham, Brighton and West Ham.

Furthermore, West Ham will need to take a point off Arsenal next Sunday to put even the slightest bit of pressure on Leeds’ trip to Tottenham the following day.

Leeds’ remaining Premier League games

Opta’s supercomputer has now calculated exactly where Leeds will finish after 38 matches this season – and it is fair to say the final position makes for good reading.

Leeds are down to finish in 15th place on just short of 47 points, which is a drop on their current standing of 14th but would still be an outcome every supporters would happily take.

Crystal Palace are expected to climb above Leeds, with Nottingham Forest finishing just below in 16th and Tottenham in 17th.

That would mean no movement in terms of the bottom three, with West Ham joining already-relegated Wolves and Burnley in going down.

For what it is worth, Leeds are given just a 0.16 per cent chance of going down. Hopefully that will stand at zero come Sunday night – or if not the following evening.

Can Daniel Farke begin to experiment for next season?

That would be far too risky to do should a result be needed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

However, if these last three games are to be dead-rubbers, there is no reason why the German should not start to experiment ahead of next season.

There have been reports that Farke wants to move towards a more possession-based model next season, rather than transition-based.

Leeds United Premier League safety deciders

Pre-season only offers so much opportunity to tinker with things, so doing so against Tottenham, Brighton and then West Ham makes sense.

Teams in the relegation fight will not be happy, but this is Leeds’ reward for staying up – hopefully – with games to spare.

And with no questions over Farke’s future for now, the German can start to do things the way he sees best going forward.
