Leeds United star Calvert-Lewin will want a word after new Premier League announcement

Leeds United striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin more than played his part in his side’s Premier League survival this season.

Calvert-Lewin arrived from Everton as a free agent last August, with that considered a shrewd deal given he is an established Premier League striker.

The England international’s injury record did cause some concern, but Leeds fans had nothing to worry about at all.

Calvert-Lewin struck 14 goals in the top flight across 35 appearances in 2025-26, with five of those outings coming as a substitute.

Despite those impressive figures, however, Calvert-Lewin has missed out on a new Premier League award.

Senne Lammens pips Dominic Calvert-Lewin to Premier League award

Calvert-Lewin’s 14 goals was the same as Viktor Gyokeres managed at Arsenal, in a team packed with much better quality in terms of attacking teammates.

Only five others netted more, meanwhile, and DCL’s 0.46 goals per 90 minutes was bettered only by Morgan Gibbs-White among those names.

Yet Calvert-Lewin missed out to Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens in the Premier League’s Transfer of the Season award, as announced on Monday.

Calvert-Lewin was on the shortlist along with Lammens, Rayan Cherki (Manchester City), Viktor Gyokeres (Arsenal), Joao Pedro (Chelsea), Adrien Truffert (Bournemouth) and Granit Xhaka (Sunderland).

Each of those players can put their case forward for being the best signing from last summer, but surely none more so than Calvert-Lewin.

That stats back it up, with the 29-year-old finishing among the division’s top scorers after arriving on a free transfer.

You do not get better bang than your buck for that, whereas Lammens – while impressive – cost Man United for an upfront fee of £18million.

No Leeds representatives in Fans’ Team of the Season

Anton Stach was another superb signing for Leeds this season, but neither he nor Calvert-Lewin made it into the Fans’ Team of the Season.

More than 200,000 people voted via the Premier League’s official website for David Raya to be number one, protected by a defence of Jurrien Timber, Gabriel, William Saliba and Nico O’Reilly.

Dominik Szoboszlai, Declan Rice and Bruno Fernandes make up the midfield three, while Igor Thiago, Haaland and Antoine Semenyo get the nod in attack.

It is a shame to see Leeds players overlooked for these end-of-season honours, but it should not come as a surprise.

Calvert-Lewin will know how big a part he played in keeping the Whites up, and will hopefully have just as big an impact next time around.
