Leeds United: Set-piece frailty must be addressed or Daniel Farke risks being left behind
Leeds United’s season is officially over, and since then various finalised statistics have begun emerging.
This season has seen quite the increased importance on set-pieces, and it has become one of the more essential ways to get yourself in front.
The Whites have been quite prolific themselves, ending the campaign in third-place when it comes to scoring from dead-ball situations.
Daniel Farke is clearly able to coach those offensive situations, and it may have helped keep them in the Premier League.
However, ahead of next season for Leeds, they may have to address how they defend those situations, as the statistics are quite damning.

How many goals have Leeds conceded from set-pieces?
Although Leeds are strong from set-pieces in an attacking sense, it is the complete opposite when it comes to keeping them out.
The BBC has shared an alternative Premier League table, with the Whites coming in 18th place at defending set-pieces.
| Set-piece goals conceded in the Premier League | Goals conceded | Rank |
| Bournemouth | 26 | 20th |
| Crystal Palace | 25 | 19th |
| Liverpool | 24 | 18th |
Over the course of the season, Leeds have conceded 24 set-piece goals, with only Bournemouth (26) and Crystal Palace (25) conceding more.
With set-pieces essentially becoming one of the most prominent methods of scoring, Farke must address those issues in pre-season, or else Leeds could be left behind.
What makes the statistic even more frustrating for fans is the contrast in the attack. Leeds have been one of the more dangerous sides from attacking set-pieces.
However, their inability to show the same level of composure and discipline defensively has ultimately cost them valuable points throughout the season.

How can Leeds address set-piece concerns?
Well, having tall players is one of the more crucial ways of preventing goals from set pieces, but Leeds are pretty well stocked in that area, as showcased by them scoring 23 goals.
Instead, the next logical conclusion is that the Peacocks become switched off during dead-ball scenarios.
So, the next solution is that Farke must make the Whites be more focused during these moments in matches.
The German and his coaching staff must simply put added focus onto defending these situations, as it could end up costing them much more as Leeds look ahead to next season.
Set-pieces do not seem to be going anywhere, and being excellent at defending and attacking them is an invaluable trait in this modern age of football.
