Leeds United make Roy Keane look foolish as pre-match Manchester United bias pure comedy
Leeds United made Roy Keane eat his own patronising words after they beat his beloved Manchester United this Monday.
The Whites were the much better side at Old Trafford, recording a historic 2-1 win over their Mancunian rivals for another huge three points in the Premier League.
Daniel Farke fell to his knees after the full-time whistle was blown, as the German head coach knew just how big the win was.
Not many people expected Leeds to rock up to Old Trafford and win, and they did so in terrific style, playing Michael Carrick’s side off the park for the majority of the game.
Older generations of Leeds fans will know all about Keane, and it’s hilarious that the former midfielder still couldn’t put aside his feelings before the game even kicked off.

Roy Keane was condescending to Leeds United before the game
Keane was a part of a Manchester United side that were involved in many heated battles with Leeds at both Elland Road and Old Trafford.
Though the Irishman knows the Red Devils as former serial silverware winners, it’s hard to argue against the fact that Leeds, as a club, has progressed more than his side in recent years.
| Stats | Man United | Leeds |
| Possession | 53% | 47% |
| Shots | 20 | 15 |
| xG | 1.27 | 2.57 |
| Goals | 1 | 2 |
| Fouls committed | 12 | 15 |
While speaking to Sky Sports before the game, Keane had a rather condescending attitude towards Leeds with his comments.
Keane said: “From my experience of playing Leeds, they won’t be coming to park the bus, they’ll be competing, they’re up against it, they don’t look a goal threat recently.
“They’ve got a lot of draws, a few wins in the Premier League, and they’re competing well, I’ll give them that. But you still think Man United will be too strong for Leeds.”
Farke has well and truly splattered egg in Keane’s face, as the Red Devils face the prospect of missing out on the Champions League for another season.
On the other hand, Leeds now look likely to stay in the Premier League and are set to frustrate Keane and Man United fans for another season, hopefully.
Daniel Farke only had one negative from Man United win
Leeds saw Ao Tanaka leave the pitch after 74 minutes, who was supposed to be Anton Stach’s replacement.
The Japanese star was seen hobbling while the Whites were celebrating at full-time, and could be set for the sidelines with big games coming up.
Gruev vs Man United:
- Minutes: 16
- Touches: 18
- Duel success rate: 100%
- Passes: 15/15
While this seems to be Farke’s only negative, Ilia Gruev came on to replace Tanaka and performed well.
The Bulgarian may come into the starting lineup to face Wolves this Saturday, as the fixture could be a good chance for Farke to switch things up while keeping momentum.
