Leeds United: Jayden Lienou has chance to impress Daniel Farke as late Wales call-up earned

Leeds United talent Jayden Lienou has been called up to the Wales international squad for their upcoming friendlies.

The 18-year-old has yet to make his Whites debut but has been involved with matchday preparations before.

Daniel Farke had called him up to the squad on matchday 36 and 37 at the end of the Premier League season.

Lienou is likely to be involved in the pre-season camp this summer, with the German clearly rating the young defender.

However, his chances for Leeds next season could be further boosted after he has earned his first call-up for Wales.

When could Jayden Lienou make Wales debut?

Lienou will be excited about the chance to represent his nation, and that could come very soon for the youngster.

Wales are set to take on Ghana on 2 June, while the game against Romania will land on 6 June. The game against the Black Stars will be at Cardiff City Stadium, while they will face Romania at the Steaua Stadium.

Lienou will be eyeing making at least one appearance across those matches, but even being among the squad is a great experience for the 18-year-old.

Farke may now have a keen interest in watching or keeping an eye on these Wales friendlies, with a potential view on what is next for Lienou.

The German could opt to keep him as part of his plans, or a loan out of Elland Road to further his development could be sanctioned too.

Leeds has been linked with various left-backs, so it could be a tough pathway ahead for the Welshman.

Why Lienou will have no issues settling in for Wales

Luckily for Lienou, there is already quite a large string of Leeds-Welsh connections in the international squad.

Leeds captain Ethan Ampadu, who has been called up too, will undoubtedly take him under his wing and help him settle.

Making the step up to international football can be an intimidating experience for any young player, particularly one entering a squad packed with established internationals.

Additionally, Dan James and Karl Darlow are among the other Leeds-adjacent names in the Welsh camp. There will be nerves for Lienou, but with his fellow Peacocks teammates, he will certainly be fine.
