Gary Lineker may want to check his information again after a small Leeds United blunder.

After a fantastic season, the Whites’ Premier League safety was sealed on Sunday, with West Ham falling to defeat against Arsenal.

As a result, Daniel Farke‘s side are able to go into their match against Tottenham on Monday night knowing that the goal of the season has been achieved.

Since returning from the international break, the West Yorkshire outfit have been in fine form, with three wins out of four in the league.

Heading into the final three, Farke’s side take on Tottenham, Brighton and West Ham as they look to end the season on a high.

Gary Lineker makes Leeds United error amid survival talk

Following their ascent to the top flight last May, Leeds have adapted to life in the Premier League seamlessly.

Growing as the term has progressed, they recovered excellently from a difficult start, with safety secured with games to spare.

However, as far as Lineker is concerned, the deal is not yet done.

Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast, the former striker said: “It’s pretty certain now that Leeds will stay up.”

With the show recorded on Sunday evening following the chaos at the London Stadium, Lineker must have missed the fact that the Whites’ safety was secured as a result.

Leeds will benefit from strong end to season

It has been a magnificent year overall for Leeds, who have taken to the Premier League like a duck to water.

However, they must finish the season strongly as they look to make further progress in the top flight.

While the final position does not bring huge rewards, it could send a real statement ahead of next term if they are to pull clear of the lower echelons of the table.

Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in 2023 after failing to build on an impressive start to the campaign, but a strong finish this month could give them momentum as they look to climb further in the years ahead.
