Leeds United must guard against complacency ahead of Tottenham clash

Leeds United may have secured Premier League survival, but there are still games to be played.

Now that the Whites’ top-flight status has been renewed, Daniel Farke can afford to take the handbrake off to some extent.

It would not be a surprise to see the German test some new tactics and strategies with pre-season in mind, as Leeds look to build on what has been a very successful campaign.

However, Leeds still have three games left to be played, with plenty more on the line in terms of finances and ambitions.

Tottenham host Leeds on Monday night, and Farke must ensure that performance levels don’t drop.

Leeds still have something to play for

Mathematically, Leeds can still qualify for Europe this season, though there are many things that need to go their way for that to happen.

However, the Whites still have it all to play for in terms of finances, given the prize money that comes with finishing higher up the table.

It’s estimated that each position in the top flight is worth upwards of an additional £2.5million compared to the position below it, meaning that finishing two places higher could see Leeds bank another £5m.

While those levels of finances are quite small in the grand scheme of things, it still provides an incentive for Leeds to continue their form.

Farke’s side could finish anywhere from 17th to eighth mathematically, demonstrating why it could be so important.

Will Farke make changes vs Tottenham?

Given how much was riding on this game before West Ham suffered defeat against Arsenal, Farke will almost certainly have had a plan in mind.

And that is unlikely to have changed since the defeat.

With that said, there could be some tactical tweaks in North London, with more notable changes likely to come ahead of the final two games.

Several youth stars have been waiting for their chance to stake a claim, and that could come in the next few weeks.
