David Brooks shares gruesome image as officials called out for missing Leeds United incident

David Brooks has shared an image following a strong challenge from Ao Tanaka in Bournemouth’s draw with Leeds United.

Sean Longstaff struck deep into added time as Leeds snatched a dramatic 2-2 draw in Wednesday night’s contest at the Vitality Stadium.

Eli Junior Kroupi and Rayan had earlier scored either side of a James Hill own goal that had levelled up the contest on the South Coast.

It was a well-fought contest between two sides in good form, although Daniel Farke will undoubtedly have been happier than Andoni Iraola come full-time.

Brooks spoke out after Leeds’ draw with Bournemouth, with an image being shared on social media.

David Brooks questions lack of intervention following Ao Tanaka challenge

Brooks was arguably Bournemouth’s liveliest player during his 68 minutes on the field, before being replaced by Rayan, who went on to score.

That is despite a challenge from Leeds midfielder Tanaka that left Brooks in some pain, which he went into more detail on after the game.

As posted by Jordan Clark via X, Brooks said: “He’s caught [me] halfway up my shin and taken a good chunk of flesh out so I’m not too sure why that didn’t get checked [by the officials].”

An image of Brooks’ shin, which shows some blood and multiple stud marks, was also included as part of the tweet.

The foul went unpunished by referee Michael Salisbury, who had bigger issues to deal with as Bournemouth were not happy Leeds’ late goal was allowed to stand.

Three yellow cards were dished out overall at the Vitality Stadium, each of those to the home side.

Leeds could have outside chance of landing European football

Yes, you read that right. Leeds are now nine points clear of danger, albeit having played a game more than most of the sides below them, which is more than enough for safety.

Farke can downplay things, but Leeds now need to look up rather than down once this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final with Chelsea is taken care of.

Teams finishing as low down as eighth and ninth this season could get European football if the cards fall into place.

While Leeds are still eight points off those places, Opta’s supercomputer predicts them to finish on 50 points thanks to a favourable set of final fixtures.

Farke’s men would have to win three and draw one of their remaining four matches for that to happen, but what is the harm in dreaming?

But even if Leeds finish in their current standing, it would still be job done for Farke this season – not least given the bonus of this ongoing FA Cup run.
