Daniel Farke’s record vs Burnley shows Leeds United face a tougher battle than anticipated

Daniel Farke is under no illusion that relegation could still happen for Leeds United, despite their 40-point total.

In truth, the German may just be being overly cautious, with one more win likely securing their place in England’s top flight next season.

The Whites have the easiest fixtures on paper in the bottom-of-the-table showdown and the easiest of those games is against Burnley.

Scott Parker’s side have already been relegated, and they sit 20 points behind the LS11 outfit.

However, despite outside noise perceiving Leeds’ run-in as easy, Farke will know better than anyone that Burnley are a tough side to play.

What is Daniel Farke’s record against Burnley?

When it comes to Leeds facing Burnley, the Whites have already lost 2-0 to the Clarets this season.

On that occasion, it was amid the Peacocks’ terrible stretch of form that Farke has since masterminded his way out of.

However, the Leeds manager’s record against the Turf Moor outfit shows it may not be as routine a win on Friday, 1 May, as many seem to think.

Gary Neville feels Leeds will beat Burnley and cement their Premier League status, but on seven tries of asking, Farke only has one win.

That victory came when he was Norwich manager back in 2020, in the FA Cup fourth round. At Leeds, he has faced Burnley three times, with two losses and one draw on his record.

Additionally, among teams he has faced at least seven times, Farke only has a worse points-per-game ratio against Chelsea (0.56) with Burnley standing at 0.71.

Ultimately, it seems Parker has Farke’s number, and if results elsewhere go against Leeds, they may not be as safe as they think.

Leeds have the biggest say in the relegation battle

Overall, the Whites seem to have the biggest say in what happens in the relegation fight due to the Whites being embroiled in the scrap and facing both West Ham and Tottenham.

Those fixtures could come with the added weight of being six-pointers and can swing momentum in the favour of any three of those sides.

Leeds will be confident about their own chances at the bottom, but they must not allow themselves to be convinced that it is over yet.

Burnley is a banana skin fixture waiting to happen, and then Tottenham will be lying in wait to potentially pull them back down to the dogfight.
