Gabriel Gudmundsson: Leeds United defender out vs Burnley as Daniel Farke hopes for swift return
Gabriel Gudmundsson won’t be available for Leeds United against Burnley on Friday after suffering a serious hamstring injury.
The left-back picked up a knock in the FA Cup semi-final loss to Chelsea and is now sidelined as the Clarets travel to Elland Road on 1 May.
Daniel Farke has revealed that the Sweden international will also probably miss the trip to Tottenham Hotspur on 11 May, but is hopeful of having him back for the final two league matches of the season.
The defender has been exceptional for the West Yorkshire outfit in the current campaign, but the German manager will have to navigate the upcoming matches without him.
Farke will definitely miss Gudmundsson against Burnley, but the Peacocks have enough quality in their ranks to get the better of Scott Parker’s team.

Leeds United have obvious solution vs Burnley
Speaking to the media on 29 April, Farke said, “Hamstring injury. Bit of a serious injury. He’ll definitely miss the game on Friday and probably as it stands for the Tottenham game and then we have to see. Of course, we try to bring him back as quick as possible, especially at this stage of the season and I hope he can feature then in terms of the last two games. But as it stands, the next two games we’ll have to play without him.”
Leeds are fortunate to have Joe Rodon back and the Wales international will definitely start against Burnley.
With Gudmundsson out, James Justin will surely be in line to feature at left-back to fill the Sweden international’s void.
| Premier League Statistics | Gabriel Gudmundsson |

| Total duels won per game | 5.6 (54%) |
The former Leicester City defender has played as one of the three centre-backs in recent weeks, but with Rodon back, he can be deployed on the left.
If the Whites do get the win over the Clarets, it would be a big step towards safety for them, increasing the gap with Tottenham Hotspur to nine points.
Daniel Farke has evident transfer priority at Elland Road
Sam Byram will most likely leave Leeds at the end of the season once his contract expires.
While Justin can play across the backline, it would make sense to bolster the backline further in the upcoming transfer window with a new centre-back and left-back.

Sebastiaan Bornauw may be thinking about leaving the Whites for regular game time elsewhere in the summer, leaving Farke with an obvious vacancy to fill.
If the German manager wants to continue playing five defenders in the starting lineup, then 49ers Enterprises must back him with quality defensive reinforcements in the summer.
