Anton Stach posts first message since Leeds United injury blow as return vow made
Anton Stach has posted an update on social media after going off injured in Leeds United‘s win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Germany international was carried off the field on a stretcher in the 74th minute of Leeds’ late 1-0 victory, earned through a last-gasp Dominic Calvert-Lewin goal.
Stach’s foot was covered in blood and thoughts immediately turned to the upcoming World Cup, which he will hope to be involved in.
Having recently seen his international exile come to an end, Stach is in strong contention to be part of Germany’s star-studded squad.
And it sounds as though Stach’s injury is not as bad as initially feared judging by an update posted on Monday.

Anton Stach vows to come back ‘as quickly as possible’
The only real blemish on Leeds’ win over Brighton was the sight of Stach going down the tunnel in clear pain.
Stach has been sensational for Leeds this season and that has seen him back involved with Germany for the first time in almost four years.
| Anton Stach | Premier League 2025-26 |
| Games (starts) | 29 (28) |
| Goals/assists | 5/3 |
| Passing accuracy | 77% |
| Tackles per game | 2.2 |
| Free-kicks scored | 3/8 |
| Sofascore rating | 7.14 |
Leeds have just one more game this season, which is away at West Ham United next weekend, with the World Cup then beginning in a little under a month’s time.
In an update posted via Instagram, Stach said: “Could you smell the win at our last home game of the season?
“Thank you for the amazing support throughout the whole season. Unlucky to have been subbed off, but I’ll do everything to come back as quickly as possible. See you soon.”
On the face of it, Stach appears to have avoided any sort of serious injury to his ankle.

Whether or not that means he will be back as early as next weekend remains to be seen, but the midfielder can be forgiven for prioritising his fitness for the World Cup.
Stach could force Leeds’ hand over contract stance
Stach still has three years to run on the contract he signed when becoming a Leeds player in July 2025.
He arrived in a £17million deal from Hoffenheim and has proved worth every last penny of that already.
A recent report suggested there are no plans to offer Stach fresh terms given he is still under contract until 2029.

However, teams higher up the food chain will undoubtedly be alerted by his performances this season – and that is only likely to ramp up if he is part of Germany’s World Cup squad.
Leeds may want to think about rewarding Stach with a new deal, then, that would see a deserved increase on his current wage.
Daniel Farke is building a squad for the future, with Stach very much needing to be part of those long-term plans.
