Crysencio Summerville to hand Leeds United timely £4m windfall after Netherlands call-up

Crysencio Summerville left Leeds United in 2024, but the winger is now set to boost the Whites’ finances two years on from leaving.

Summerville’s move to the Hammers has not quite gone to plan for the 24-year-old.

He left Leeds when they were in the Championship; however, as things stand, the Whites will be a Premier League club with Summerville in the second tier next season.

Signs do point towards the winger exiting East London, though, as he certainly has the quality to play at a higher tier.

However, before he does make that move elsewhere, Leeds may finally secure more money from the sale of the former Peacocks star.

How Crysencio Summerville will earn Leeds £4m fee

When the Dutch winger was sold to West Ham, Leeds put plenty of add-ons in the Summerville deal, and that has proved smart.

During the period since he left, Leeds have had to be patient, but now that patience is set to be rewarded at the upcoming World Cup.

Although West Ham were relegated, it seems Summerville’s performance has caught the eye of Netherlands manager Ronald Koeman, who has called him up for the World Cup.

For Leeds, they will likely be joyous over that decision, as one of the add-ons at West Ham is directly linked to an international debut.

Summerville has yet to be capped, making this call-up all the more interesting for Leeds.

When Summerville makes his international debut for the Netherlands, they will land £4million from the Hammers.

The Whites have to remain patient, as this call-up has been two seasons in the making.

That fee could arrive much sooner than the tournament in North America, with the Dutch national team set for friendlies against Algeria on 3 June and Uzbekistan on 8 June.

After Paraag Marathe announced finances will prove difficult for Leeds, any injection of money is a timely boost at the moment.

How much in add-ons did the Summerville deal include?

Based on reports from West Ham sources such as Sean Whestone, Leeds included at least £9m worth of additional clauses.

The Whites secured an original base fee of £25m, so a total package of £34m was agreed at the time. With a potential injection of £4m now in line, it takes the cost up to £29m.

Details surrounding the last £5m have not been publicly disclosed, and it is not known whether they have been hit.

However, with Summerville linked with a move out of West Ham, this last injection of cash may be the last the LS11 side sees from this sale.
