Newcastle trio ruled out vs Leeds while two players face late fitness tests
Newcastle United have a number of injury issues to contend with ahead of their trip to Leeds United on Monday night.
While Leeds will be without Joe Rodon for the Elland Road showdown and question marks linger over Ilia Gruev's fitness, Newcastle's issues see them without a number of key players.
Joelinton, Dan Burn and William Osula are definitely unavailable for the game.
None of them are expected to return to action until after the upcoming extended international break.
Joelinton (thigh), Burn (ankle) and Osula (ankle) will no doubt be major misses for Newcastle.
On top of that, Magpies manager Matthias Jaissle will be sweating over the fitness of two other players.
Newcastle injury news in full ahead of clash vs Leeds
As per Premier Injuries, goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen faces a late fitness test in time to play at Elland Road.
He is Newcastle's back-up option in between the sticks, so it's unlikely to be a big blow for the Tyneside club anyway.
Amar Dedic does not have a serious injury despite coming off early in the Carabao Cup win over Millwall.
It is understood that while he had tight hamstrings in that game and also has a late fitness test to play versus Leeds, there's a good probability that the full-back will be available for Jaissle.
What about Tino Livramento?
Because of Dedic not being 100 per cent, there's a chance that Tino Livramento could make his first start since the end of last season.
Livramento has been gradually recovering from a knee injury that ruled him out of England's World Cup campaign in the summer.
He's come off the bench in each of the last two Newcastle games, including a 45-minute appearance as a sub versus Millwall.
Jaissle might want to avoid risking the ex-Chelsea right-back, but at the same time, starting Dedic could also be a risk.
The Mag does predict Dedic to get the nod in their expected Newcastle line-up against Leeds, so we would expect that to happen.
Jaissle could sub him off at the break and replace him with Livramento again as the England prospect continues to fight back to full fitness.
