Gabriel Gudmundsson injury update for Leeds vs Crystal Palace after Newcastle worry
Leeds United were left sweating over Gabriel Gudmundsson's fitness after he was taken off early in the win over Newcastle on Monday.
Gudmundsson, 27, was replaced by Melvin Bard in the 72nd minute of Leeds' 4-1 win at Elland Road.
Before Daniel Farke took the Sweden international off, it looked as though he'd pulled up a bit and was struggling with a potential injury.
Fortunately, those injury concerns have now been allayed.
It means that Gudmundsson should now be available to keep hold of his starting spot against Crystal Palace at Elland Road this weekend.
But what was the issue with the former Lille left-back?
Gabriel Gudmundsson's issue revealed
BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope updated fans after the win on Monday night.
Writing on X late on Monday night, Pope reported that Gudmundsson was not carrying an injury and the only reason he was struggling before he was substituted off was because of cramp.
"Gudmundsson cramp, no injury," said Pope.
There's obviously still a chance that Farke will avoid risking Gudmundsson on Sunday.
However, with a three-week international break after the game against Palace, there's every chance that it'll be a risk worth taking.
How good has Gudmundsson been for Leeds?
Leeds are currently unbeaten in the Premier League and sit third in the table after their win over Newcastle.
There are plenty of Yorkshiremen with nose bleeds, as a result.
Gudmundsson has only played three times this term, starting against Brentford and Newcastle in the league and coming on as a sub in the Carabao Cup loss to Chelsea.
He missed the opening few games due to injury, which is why many were fearing that there was a new issue with him on Monday night.
However, he's all good and it just goes to show how good the Swede has actually been, given that his pre-season preparations were disrupted due to injury.
Bard's also shown glimpses that he can be a solid back-up option for Leeds if they do have any further injuries to worry about in that department.
