Daniel Farke will have hidden frustration after Harry Wilson injury latest at Leeds United

Beren Cross thinks Leeds United are not expecting a long injury lay-off for Harry Wilson.

The 29-year-old made the switch to Elland Road during the summer transfer window after leaving Fulham on a free transfer.

Thus far, Wilson has made just one Premier League start for the Whites, though he has made another three off the bench in the top flight.

However, Wilson was not involved at all as Leeds played out a goalless draw with Crystal Palace at Elland Road on Sunday.

Wilson was later ruled out of the Wales squad over the international window due a thigh injury.

The Athletic journalist Cross has now shared when he thinks Wilson could return for Leeds.

When could Harry Wilson return for Leeds United?

Wilson will be desperate to start getting more minutes in the Premier League for Leeds.

He had an outstanding season for Fulham last term, but opted to make the move to Elland Road.

However, under Farke's preferred 3-4-3 formation, there has not been a natural fit for him in the starting XI.

Still, though, there is no doubting his quality or his impact to effect games, and he could have been useful in the Palace stalemate.

Cross, speaking on the Square Ball podcast, is confident that Wilson could be back in action after the international break.

He said: "We're hoping Wilson will be back after the international break.

"I know Farke's ruled him out of Wales, but there was no sort of tone from Farke on Friday that suggested it was going to be a long-term injury."

Harry Wilson injury: Good or bad timing for Leeds and Daniel Farke?

It seems a silly question, because on the face of it there is obviously never a good time for players to get injured.

But, it is just a fact of life that players get injured, and on the face of it you could argue from a Leeds perspective that he might as well get injured during the international break.

On the other hand, Wilson has not earned a great deal of minutes for Leeds so far.

So, it might be that there would have been a good opportunity to get some much-needed game time for Wales over the next few weeks.

Instead, he is going to have to focus on his recovery and means he might have even more catching up to do.

You have to think for Daniel Farke that this will be a hidden frustration, because he likely would have wanted Wilson to get more game time with Wales to help him get up to speed for Leeds.

Wilson undoubtedly still has a big role to play for Leeds this season, but it would have been ideal for him to get minutes in the legs.
