Leeds United are still recovering from their crazy Carabao Cup defeat to Chelsea on Wednesday evening.

It was all looking good at Stamford Bridge until a crazy second half saw the Whites collapse to a 6-3 defeat.

Tarik Muharemovic and Brenden Aaronson had Leeds 2-0 ahead just after the break, but what happened after was simply unacceptable.

Daniel Farke described it as "crazy", but fans were not happy with how late he was to make substitutions.

It was Xabi Alonso's proactive approach that saw four substitutes come on, with Morgan Rogers and Cole Palmer at the heart of everything.

It would be no surprise to see some tired legs at Thorp Arch, today.

Despite only being another 90 minutes, this was a wild end-to-end tie which saw both sides exhausted.

With eight changes, Leeds rotated enough to keep most of their stars feeling rested enough.

So much so, Farke has confirmed that no new injuries were picked up at Stamford Bridge.

It's a small positive on a dark night, with Muharemovic, Ethan Ampadu and James Justin the regulars to keep their spots.

On top of that, Leeds now have until Monday before their next game as Newcastle come to Elland Road in the Premier League.

Has anybody earned a starting spot?

In short, not really.

Melvin Bard impressed on his debut and did come off with cramp, so it's good to know that he's recovered well already.

Despite that, Gabriel Gudmundsson will always start when fit, the same that can be said for the likes of Dominic Calvert-Lewin and likely Noah Okafor.

Jean-Matteo Bahoya was unlucky not to get his debut off the bench at Chelsea, but he could earn that against Newcastle.

After dominating Brighton for huge spells last time out in the Premier League, it's highly likely that the same starting side will take on Newcastle.

That physical nature was lost in the second half after scoring a second, so adding the likes of Ao Tanaka and Anton Stach from the start will help massively.

Newcastle have great pace in their ranks, so it's all about keeping that in check.

It's time to put Chelsea behind us, recover well with this extended break and then pick up another big three points.
