Italian journalist Gianluigi Longari has said that while Leeds United like Erick Pulgar, there has been no offer made for him yet.

The Fiorentina midfielder has been linked continuously with Leeds in this window with two contrasting reports coming out this week.

The first was from La Nazione on Monday that said Leeds were set to take the player on a half-season loan, with no obligation to buy.

The second was from Calciomercato that said Leeds were ready to table a bid of £22.3m for the player.

However, Longari, who is the transfer expert for Sportitalia TV, has said that the Puglar news is "just rumours for the moment. They like him but no offer."

Time running out in Jan

Marcelo Bielsa has said that if there was an opportunity to improve his squad this January, he'd take it.

There are definite holes in the squad. The centre-back issue should improve immediately with the return of Diego Llorente. However, even when he's back Leeds are one injury or suspension away from having to shuffle the backline again.

It's the midfield where we've got a real issue, though.

Leeds were exposed against Brighton, where we struggled to get a grip on the game and recorded an xG of just 0.3 – the lowest in any league game under Bielsa since he arrived.

Kalvin Phillips was suspended, Pascal Struijk was playing and Leeds just weren't the same side.

Pulgar would give Leeds solid cover in the defensive midfield position as well as options in central midfield.

However, with time running out in the January window, it doesn't look like Leeds are going to bite.
