Red Bull hand Paraag Marathe ‘vote of confidence’ at Leeds United after Elland Road development
Leeds United chief Paraag Marathe and the rest of the Whites executives have been given a “vote of confidence” by their deal with Red Bull, according to Kieran Maguire.
The Whites confirmed on Thursday (30 May) that their owners 49ers Enterprises have agreed on a deal to sell a minority stake in the Elland Road club to the Red Bull group ahead of the start of next season.
While the deal has been met with some scepticism from supporters, football finance expert Maguire suggests that the investment shows there is confidence Leeds will return to the Premier League sooner rather than later.
As quoted by i News (31 May) he said: “You’re not gonna get a deal with an organisation as big as Red Bull unless Red Bull are confident that you’re going to be at the top tier.
“It’s a vote of confidence in Paraag Marathe and the rest of the executive team at Elland Road. It allows the 49ers investments to get a chunk of their investment back if they are selling some of their shares to RB.”
What does Leeds United partnership with Red Bull mean at Elland Road?
There has been a slight sense of doom and gloom around Leeds United following their playoff final defeat to Southampton and for good reason as there is an expectation a number of players could well be sold.
But Red Bull’s investment should act as an indication that the Whites are still in an excellent position to bounce back into the Premier League next term, even if they may have to sell some stars to balance the books.

With Marathe also insisting that the name of Elland Road or the team won’t be changed in the near future, it is clear that the energy drink’s company is no different to Will Ferrell’s stakeholding in the club.
Hopefully, Red Bull’s confidence won’t have been misplaced at Elland Road and Daniel Farke’s side will be able to climb back into the Premier League next term. It won’t be easy, but they are still most pundit’s favourites to win promotion.
