Leeds United set for great cash injection after new development at Elland Road

Leeds United are set for a “great” cash injection after Red Bull investment was confirmed this summer, according to Nancy Froston.

Speaking on the One Leeds Fan Channel, The Athletic journalist said that the Whites stand to benefit hugely from the Austrian energy drink giant’s investment from next season onwards.

Froston highlighted Red Bull’s on-field success with Salzburg and Leipzig as examples of taking clubs to new heights, and that their long-term plan sees United as a Premier League side.

She said: “In its current form, I’m inclined to see it as a positive, for sure.

“The injection in cash will be great, the fact that it’s a global brand showing serious interest in Leeds tells you something about the size of the club and its reach.

“They wouldn’t invest in Leeds if they thought that they were still going to be a Championship team in five years’ time.”

Red Bull investment could help Leeds United hit new heights

The Whites are one of England’s biggest clubs in terms of global brand, fanbase and revenue streams, but that didn’t do them any favours on 26 May when they lost to Southampton in the Championship play-off final.

Red Bull’s shirt sponsorship deal from next season onwards, the biggest in EFL history, could go some way towards alleviating that 1-0 loss in 2024/25 [Last Word on Sports, 30 May].

Sales of some high-profile players are expected this summer, both to alleviate profit and sustainability pressures and to allow stars who want to play at a higher level than the Championship to depart amicably.

However, the financial assistance brought in by Red Bull will also allow a greater sway in demanding exact asking prices for certain players, such as Crysencio Summerville, while also giving them the ability to splash the cash on replacements who could prove to be even better value for Farke next season.
