De Telegraaf journalist Jeroen Kapteijns has said that Leeds United are locked in talks over a deal for winger Gyrano Kerk.

However, he claims that FC Utrecht's hand has been strengthened by the potential sale of Sean Klaiber.

According to Dutch site AD,  Ajax have reached agreement over a deal for Klaiber.

Kapteijns claims this is set to net Utrecht £4.5m which means they 'have space to' stick to their asking price of £9m for Kerk.

He claims that Leeds face competition from Cagliari, Hellas Verona and Fiorentina.

Kerk or James?

The Daily Mail has reported that Leeds are now looking to conclude their summer business by signing a winger.

They claim that Kerk and Demarai Gray are the two names Leeds are most likely to sign.

Kerk is a very interesting proposition and the 24-year-old winger scored 11 goals and added 12 assists in an eye-catching 19/20 season.

He scored in the Europa League qualifier against Zrinjski Mostar.

Kerk would be affordable even if Utrecht stick to their asking price of £9m. He's reported to be on just £3,200-a-week at Utrecht.

However, the Mail doesn't mention Dan James and a loan deal from Man United would be an even cheaper option to add more attacking depth to the Leeds squad.

It's a fantastic position for Leeds to be in. Even if they don't add a winger they've done brilliant business with five days to go until the window closes.

A winger would be the cherry on the top.
