49ers agree to sell minority Leeds United stake as talks set to conclude – Phil Hay
49ers Enterprises have agreed to sell a minority stake in Leeds United to Red Bull, according to Phil Hay.
Writing on his personal X account (30 May), The Athletic journalist reports that a deal has been agreed between the two parties which will see the energy drink company also become the club’s new shirt sponsor next season.
Red Bull join a list of investors in the club that includes Hollywood star Will Ferrell and several other celebrity stars.
49ers Enterprises agree to sell minority stake in Leeds United
With Leeds United failing to get back to the Premier League at the first time of asking, there are big changes coming at Elland Road on the pitch.
But it also means that plans likely have to change slightly off the pitch, and new investment is a way to add cash onto the books and help the club succeed.
There is probably a chance that there could be some transfer deals between the links of the clubs which is always a positive, but financially Red Bull have been great owners of Salzburg and Leipzig in Austria and Germany too.
A minority sale doesn’t effect the long-term plans of the 49ers though, who are still committed to the club and eventually want to help redevelop Elland Road and get the club back to the top of the mountain.
This is huge news however, and Red Bull will now be more than welcome at Elland Road to help the club get where they belong.
In other Leeds news, the club want to sign a 23 y/o who was just released by a Premier League club.
