'Wow' - Manchester City star heaps praise on 'really important' senior Leeds figure
There is no hiding from the fact that Marcelo Bielsa has transformed many clubs in his career, not just Leeds United.
The season before Bielsa arrived, the Whites lost 20 games in the Championship. Compare that to the past couple of campaigns, and Leeds have only tasted that same feeling on 17 occasions.
Bielsa has mainly done that with a similar squad too, proving he has made the players at Elland Road much better than they were when he arrived – a common theme throughout his career.
Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy has recently commented on the effect Bielsa had on his career, claiming that he was blown away by the glowing praise he was given by the Argentinian.
“Marcelo Bielsa, he’s a really important person,” he told OTRO, via their official Twitter account.
“To me, he’s a great coach and I remember the moment he said that… ‘What Mendy knows, if Mendy can incorporate that, he’ll be one of the best left-backs in the world’.
“I was biting my lip, laughing all over the place. For him to say that in front of the whole group? Wow.”
This is just one case of how good Bielsa makes his players feel, and the transformation of nearly the entire Leeds squad is more proof of that.
Adam Forshaw has opened up on Bielsa’s methods, claiming that his in-depth analysis can give his squad the extra one percent needed to pick up three points, highlighting how he is prepared to go that extra mile and leave no stone unturned.
There is a reason that Pep Guardiola and Mauricio Pochettino have become such big admirers of the South American during their management careers, and should he guide Leeds back to the Premier League, he will be immortalised more than he already is in West Yorkshire.
