The IBF Featherweight boxing champion Josh Warrington has claimed that Leeds United will still earn promotion to the Premier League this season despite the recent poor run of form.

Warrington, a well-known Whites fan himself gave a fighting assessment during a press conference on Thursday and claimed that Marcelo Bielsa's men just need to recapture their form from earlier in the season.

Warrington hit back at the question, after being asked with a smile if he still believes the Whites can stay in the automatic promotion spots this season.

"Why did you giggle then?" he told TEAMtalk.

"I think so, yeah [on gaining promotion]. We’ve had a little stumble and a recent dip in form but it’s about what happens and where we are at the end of the season so if we can get back into form on the home stretch then I think we’ll be there."

Leeds looked back to their usual selves on Tuesday night at Griffin Park against Brentford. Despite many predicting the Whites would lose again, they dominated the home side and would have taken all three points if it wasn't for yet another error from Kiko Casilla.

Bielsa's side has been in freefall since the 3-3 draw against Cardiff back in December. Casilla's form is one of the reasons why Leeds can't seem to pick up results, with the Spaniard making too many mistakes.

Before the game against Cardiff, Leeds had only conceded 10 goals in their opening 21 fixtures - a total they have doubled in their last 11 games - nowhere near good enough.

Warrington is right to predict Leeds can still earn automatic promotion, after all, we are still sat in second. It is in our hands right now.

Looking at a graphic shared on Twitter on Thursday, Leeds also have the most favourable run-in of all teams in the top-six - as they only have one of those sides to play between now and the end of the season.
