Victor Orta has claimed that Leeds United fans have convinced him to remain at Elland Road despite interest from elsewhere this year.
The director of football has been linked with a move to Roma, although he decided to stay in West Yorkshire to work with Andrea Radrizzani.
Orta admitted that Leeds has changed his life and that he can only thank everyone that he has worked closely with during his four years at the club.
Orta believes that the fan-base is the main reason behind his decisions, and also shared his ambition for the club.
“They are the reason that I stay in my job,” he told BBC Look North.
“They only make the best for me, with mistakes, with failures, with success. I work for, obviously me, and my group, but I work to try and bring this club in its real position and make a lot of people happy.
“Leeds United changed my life. My ambition is to get Leeds to play again in European competitions.”
Orta’s tenure at Leeds has been nothing short of eventful, to say the least.
Starting under Massimo Cellino, the Spaniard faced a lot of hatred from fans in his first year, claiming that he made too many mistakes in the market.
Ever since Radrizzani arrived at the club, Orta has continued to prove himself in his role for the Whites and every year he continues to get better.
The director of football shares the lofty ambitions of everyone at Elland Road, and he is using that to pull off some quality deals – just look at Raphinha and Rodrigo.
Orta is here to stay, and fingers crossed he continues to impress.
