Chris Kirkland has claimed that Leeds United will try to sign a new goalkeeper for the next season in the Premier League.
The Sky Sports pundit has urged the Whites to find a stopper with more experience, just like many other clubs have in their sides.
Illan Meslier has started every game in the Premier League, with the experienced Kiko Casilla sitting on the bench.
Kirkland believes it would be a smart move to bring in another stopper, admitting he may be smart to get someone in who can handle the pressure at Elland Road.
“When you come up to the Premier League you need somebody that’s got experience at a big club, and Leeds are a huge club,” he told Football Fan Cast.
“So yeah, I think that could possibly be something they may do next season, I think they might sign a keeper. I would, I would if I was them.”
Meslier made his move permanent in the summer for only £5million, and Marcelo Bielsa has made it clear that he is the main man in-between the sticks.
The keeper has looked like someone with much more experience than he has this season, but Monday was the first time we had seen him flustered.
Meslier made a number of mistakes and almost even dropped the ball into his own net in the first-half after a Harvey Barnes cross.
One game shouldn’t be enough to signal such a drastic change though, and much of what Leeds do in the transfer market will depend on the future of Casilla.
Should the Spaniard leave Elland Road, which we believe is the right option, another keeper will come in – it is that simple.
