Midlands club join Leeds in hunt for PL striker who could be available this month - report
West Brom have joined Leeds United in the hunt to sign Sheffield United forward David McGoldrick in January, according to Football Insider.
It is suggested by the reputable football outlet that Slaven Bilic is keen to blow the Whites and Marcelo Bielsa out of the water to secure the Republic of Ireland international.
Both clubs have set their sights on the 32-year-old in an attempt to strengthen their promotion push in the second half of the Championship campaign.
According to the report, both have been informed that the Blades could make McGoldrick available for transfer this month.
McGoldrick was vital in Sheffield United’s promotion last season and has played a key role under Chris Wilder in the Premier League.
The experienced forward has featured 18 times in the top flight and has yet to score a goal – a possible reason behind why he could be made available.

It was clear that Wilder had big faith in the forward, who arrived on a free from Ipswich last season. He scored 15 goals and added four assists in their promotion push, which incidentally is the best year of his career to date.
With Eddie Nketiah being recalled and Tyler Roberts struggling with injuries, it is clear why Leeds would target someone like McGoldrick.
The experienced forward can lead the line but also play in behind a striker – something which could see Patrick Bamford thrive with a little bit of pressure being taken off his shoulders.
Leeds could have the upper hand on West Brom, given that the Baggies already have a number of options in the final third. Kenneth Zohore, Charlie Austin, and Hal Robson-Kanu have all led the line for the Baggies this season, compared to the Whites where McGoldrick would only have Bamford for competition.
