Marcelo Bielsa will sign new Leeds contract in next few days - Fabrizio Romano
Marcelo Bielsa will sign his new Leeds United contract in the next few days, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The high-profile journalist shared the major update this week after Angus Kinnear had revealed a verbal agreement.
El Loco has not travelled home to Argentina this summer but has instead stayed in Leeds to start transfer plans ahead of next season.
Despite that being shared, now official announcement has yet been made from Elland Road or on social media.
Speaking on The Here We Go Podcast in the past 24 hours, Romano reported that Bielsa’s signature is ready.
“Marcelo Bielsa is going to sign the contract in the next few days,” he said.
“He’s staying at Leeds, and if we won’t have any big surprises, Bielsa is staying.”
Here we go, indeed.
Romano is usually first on the scene with huge news like this, and it appears as though we will finally get confirmation.
Bielsa doesn’t necessarily care about contracts and legal situations, he will give you his word and go from there.
Leeds obviously want his contract sorted though, and their wish appears set to come true this week as El Loco stays on for yet another year.
Europe is the major goal at Elland Road next season, and with Bielsa in charge that is more than possible.
Another benefit of this being sorted is of course the time to go and get whichever players Bielsa wants, there are still two weeks until pre-season.
Victor Orta will now be in overdrive, and will already be some way towards his first couple of signings.
The main signing looks set to be confirmed though, celebrations are pending.
