'Stupid' - Luke Ayling shares reaction to Kalvin Phillips red card for Leeds in 1-0 defeat v QPR
Nearly every Leeds United fan was left shaking their head as Kalvin Phillips was given his marching orders in the 1-0 defeat against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.
The midfielder was a picture of frustration as he lunged into a late challenge on Geoff Cameron, deservedly given a red card by Peter Bankes.
Luke Ayling obviously felt that disappointment as well after the full-time whistle, revealing what he told the 24-year-old after the challenge.
“It’ll be a huge miss for us,” he told Leeds Live.
“I said after to him, it is a stupid tackle, it is a red card.
“So he will have to sit out for three games now and the other players are going to have to step up. Maybe some players that have been injured might be able to come back and have some game time and we are going to have to find a different player to play in there.”

Marcelo Bielsa is facing a real selection dilemma for the next three games against Millwall, Wigan and Nottingham Forest.
Adam Forshaw is still sidelined with a problematic hip injury that has seen him miss months of action at Elland Road. Mateusz Klich and Jamie Shackleton are both better further forward in midfield as well.
That could mean that Ben White is once again pushed further forward, but with Gaetano Berardi also having an injury – Bielsa could be forced to use academy options such as Alfie McCalmont.
