'I know them...' - Salim Lamrani sends Leeds fans message, claims squad 'deserve' support

Marcelo Bielsa’s former translator Salim Lamrani has delivered a message to Leeds United fans, asking them to keep faith with the current squad.

Lamrani claimed that having known this squad of players from his time at Elland Road last season, he knows that they deserve the support and faith from supporters for the last months of the campaign.

The former right-hand man admitted that he believes that the Whites will still earn promotion to the Premier League this season.

He delivered the message on his personal Twitter account on Monday evening, revealing he felt attached to the club from his first-ever matchday experience.

“Dear Leeds United fans,” he wrote.

“The first time I heard Leeds United’s anthem “Marching on together”, I immediately identified myself with your wonderful club because I believe in the values of unity and solidarity, especially in times of adversity.

“Stay strong and keep the faith in your team. Support the lads because they need it and deserve it. I know them and I can tell you they are good men. Let’s close ranks and we will go back soon to the promised land.”

It is hard to share the same optimism as Lamrani at this moment in time, especially given Leeds’ recent run of form which has been nothing short of terrible.

The Whites have lost four of their last five games, and they continue to look worryingly weak in the final third. Brentford on the other hand, look incredibly strong and have scored eight goals in their last two games – not something you want to see with Tuesday night’s clash approaching quickly.

Automatic promotion is still in Leeds’ hands as it stands, but another couple of weeks with bad results could see that completely change. Earning our first win at Griffin Park in more than 69 years would be the perfect kickstart for the rest of the campaign.
