Leeds United fans have hailed defender Robin Koch for his latest performance for Germany as Joachim Low’s side beat Ukraine 3-1 on Saturday.

The 24-year-old played all 90 minutes of Germany’s UEFA Nations League victory with a goal by Leroy Sane and a Timo Werner brace securing three points after Ukraine went ahead in the 12th minute through Roman Yaremchuk.

Interestingly, Koch played in the defensive midfield slot for Germany. It’s a position we know he can play in but since arriving at Elland Road from Freiburg in the summer, Marcelo Bielsa has only played the Germany international in his defence.

Koch seriously impressed in the midfield role with the above stats showing how efficient his passing was while he also remained responsible off the ball by winning four interceptions and recovering the ball six times.

A lot of Leeds fans took to Twitter to praise the German for his performance against Ukraine, with one saying that he was “excellent” in the Nations League victory.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Koch is pretty much stuck at playing as a centre-back for Leeds at the moment with Diego Llorente injured.

Kalvin Phillips is out injured too and Koch was more than likely seen as a possible stand-in for him if the England international was ruled out of any games.

However, Llorente’s issues have meant that’s not possible.

Of course, Bielsa does have other options as Pascal Struijk and Luke Ayling can slot in at centre-back to allow Koch to push forward into the midfield.

But for whatever reason, Bielsa isn’t a massive fan of that.

In other Leeds United news, Xherdan Shaqiri has sent a two-word message to this Elland Road ace on Instagram.
