In the wake of a potential kit deal with Adidas in the summer, Phil Hay has claimed that Leeds United have sold more than 110,000 shirts this season.

That figure means that they've sold more than most Premier League clubs and Hay says it's "no wonder" that big players like Adidas are keen to make the merchandise for Leeds.

That's something that Leeds fans have been wanting to happen for a while.

The shirt numbers are impressive for a Championship side but it's no major surprise.

Everyone knows how big and loyal the Leeds fanbase is and we can only imagine how many the club will sell if they finally win promotion.

A deal with Adidas, not confirmed but heavily rumoured, would increase the reach for Leeds to other big markets like Asia and it would substantially increase the revenue that the club makes.

Hay claims that Leeds make an estimated £2m a year from the current Kappa deal and while they're likely to offer Leeds an extension, talks between the club and Adidas have been going on for a while now.

Fans are delighted with the update that experts say put them in the top six of clubs in the country.

One said that Adidas "need to come in with the big money" while another said it was "amazing".
