Some Leeds fans react as BBC report injury blow: ‘Can’t catch a break’
Leeds United fans have taken to Twitter to react to the news that Ryan Edmondson is set to miss up to two months of action with a knee injury.
BBC West Yorkshire Sport reported via their official Twitter account on Monday that Edmondson, 18, has had to undergo surgery on a knee injury, that is likely to see him sidelined until the end of March.
Edmondson has not been involved in Marcelo Bielsa’s first-team this season, despite a lot of fans wanting to see more of the highly-rated young striker, but he has been a mainstay of Carlos Corberan’s Under-23s.
However, the teenager was not in the squad on Monday as the Under-23s drew 2-2 against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough when January loan signing Jean-Kevin Augustin started as the centre-forward.
News then emerged after the match that Edmondson has had a knee injury that is going to require a lengthy recuperation period.
BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Adam Pope shared the news via his Twitter account and that led to a lot of replies from Leeds United supporters, who have reacted to Edmondson’s setback.
While some of them do not see this as a blow due to the fact Bielsa has overlooked the teenager striker this season, most supporters are gutted to see a young player suffer from an injury that has required an operation.
