‘Run away’, ‘Oh dear’ – These Leeds fans react to journalist update on Massimo Cellino
Leeds United have had their fair share of poor owners and chairmen in their history.
Ken Bates and Peter Ridsdale spring to mind immediately, but Massimo Cellino didn’t exactly leave West Yorkshire with a whole heap of fans.
The Italian failed the EFL’s fit and proper test of an owner and eventually left the club before Andrea Radrizzani took over and went in a different direction.
The last thing that most Leeds fans expected was to see the former owner back in the Championship any time soon, although that may be happening.
The Sun journalist Alan Nixon shared an update on Friday claiming that Cellino is interested in buying Charlton Athletic.
It was suggested that the controversial Italian is wanting another challenge in England, and views the Addicks as a project that he could take control of in the near future.
“Cellino has always fancied Charlton as a project,” he wrote on his personal Twitter account.
“And says he wants a club here again. Could do with moving in fast for it. Don’t know if that message has got across to him.”
Many Leeds fans have queried this update and some even questioned whether the EFL would even let Cellino near another one of their clubs after his time at the Whites.
A large group claimed they wouldn’t even wish Cellino owning their club on their worst rivals and that Charlton should instead run away.
