Ian Harte has questioned whether Leeds United will be able to turn Ben White’s loan move into a permanent switch this summer.
The ex-Whites full-back claimed that Brighton will be wanting to hold on to the 22-year-old as he would improve their defence.
White has started every Championship game this season under Marcelo Bielsa and has impressed massively at Elland Road.
Harte doesn’t see his former side being able to bring White back to the club in the summer and expects him to be at the AMEX next season.
“Every Leeds fan would love to get him back, but Brighton are the club that own him at the moment and he’s under contract with them. I think them (Brighton) bringing him back will only strengthen their team in the Premier League,” he told Football League World.
“I can’t see Leeds getting him back if I’m being honest. A player of his quality, he would help the current Brighton team.”
Andrea Radrizzani has already revealed his intentions to bring White back to West Yorkshire permanently, but he will face stiff competition to do just that.
The Athletic have revealed that the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City have been impressed with the defender this season and could make moves for the young enforcer as well.
Harte definitely has a point over the future of White, and Brighton certainly won’t want to let the defender leave unless a big sum of money arrives at their doorstep this summer.
