‘Oh no’ – Many Leeds fans react as Phil Hay relays key-player update pre-Luton

Leeds United fans are calling on Marcelo Bielsa to keep Pablo Hernandez on the bench for the clash against Luton Town on Tuesday night.

Hernandez, 35, missed the defeat to Cardiff in the first game back after the Championship season was suspended due to a hamstring strain and only made the bench against Fulham at the weekend.

However that didn’t stop the veteran midfielder from appearing at half-time to help Leeds secure a massive 3-0 win against the Cottagers.

Up next for Leeds is relegation-threatened Luton and with Hernandez revealing ahead of the game that he is not 100 per cent fit just yet (via The Athletic’s Phil Hay), fans are hoping that Bielsa does not risk the former Spain international.

Leeds have won just three out of 10 Championship fixtures when Hernandez has not played this season so having him in the squad is of paramount importance.

But fans do not want to see the Spaniard suffer a setback because he’s rushed back and here is a selection of their tweets:

Most fans want to see him rested but there are a couple who are concerned about Hernandez’s update.

We don’t think there’s any need to worry.

Even though he’s not 100 per cent fit, it is unlikely that most players in the Championship are due to the unprecedented circumstances they are playing in.

That doesn’t mean Hernandez should be pushed by Bielsa but it does mean that the news about his fitness isn’t much to worry about.

We will only worry if he’s definitely not going to be in the squad versus Luton but we think he is likely to be on the bench once more.
