Many Leeds fans react as Kalvin Phillips ruled out v Aston Villa
Marcelo Bielsa confirmed this afternoon that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips will be missing against Aston Villa on Saturday.
The Yorkshire Pirlo was forced off in the 2-0 win over Crystal Palace this month and is now set to miss his fourth Premier League game in-a-row.
El Loco admitted that he doesn’t want to risk Phillips being out longer than necessary, and sent out a warning to those expecting him back quickly.
Phil Hay relayed the news on his personal Twitter account on Thursday, with Rodrigo also out, and Mateusz Klich progressing well but not certain to feature.
“Much the same on the injury front at Leeds ahead of Villa,” he wrote.
“Klich is doing okay so has a chance. Phillips and Rodrigo still out. Bielsa said the calf injury Phillips has could get worse if they time his comeback wrong so they’re being cautious.”
The 25-year-old has also suffered the loss of his grandma this week, and the win over Southampton was dedicated to his family as he watched on.
Phillips has been phenomenal.
Only Liam Cooper has made more tackles per game this season according to WhoScored, but he does top the charts for long balls; something that has become a real weapon for the Whites.
Many Leeds fans have reacted to the confirmed blow on Thursday, with the majority absolutely gutted to be missing the main man.
Some have started to panic, with Phillips starting to look like he could be out for much longer than first feared at Elland Road.
