Germany extended their run to 11 games last night as a single Luca Waldschmidt goal proved enough to see off the Czech Republic – but Leeds United fans had their eyes on another player.

Robin Koch played the full 90 minutes in the heart of the defence and fans were impressed by his performance at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig.

According to LUFCDATA his numbers were fantastic – an 85.7% pass accuracy, with two interceptions, two tackles and two clearances.

Of course, the all-important stat is the clean sheet and there are plenty of Leeds fans who want to see Koch do the same against Arsenal next week.

Other Leeds fans were just pleased that he wasn’t injured but he’s still got two potential fixtures to navigate – against Ukraine on Saturday before the all-important fixture against Spain next Tuesday.

Germany are currently one point behind Spain and could well need a win to top the group and qualify automatically for the knockouts of the Nations League.

The fixture pile-up has been talked about extensively and it seems crazy to us that so many games are being racked up while players are already struggling with injuries – more than ever are being recorded this season.

That’s not to mention the risk of COVID-19, with West Brom already losing Callum Robinson from the Republic of Ireland squad.

Fingers crossed that all the Leeds players return fit. Koch and Liam Cooper are the most important with Leeds stretched at the back. Koch has got through his first game okay, Cooper plays tonight.

Meanwhile, here are the best reactions to Koch’s 90 minutes for Germany…
