‘If I’m honest…’ – These Leeds fans react to centenary celebrations
Leeds United celebrates it’s 100th birthday on Thursday and fans were expecting a party all week, culminating in three points against Birmingham at Elland Road on Saturday.
There are plenty who have been left disappointed.
There’s a centenary event in Millennium Square on Thursday, which boasts appearances from legends, Andrea Radrizzani and the first-team squad.
However, as many fans pointed out, it’s between 3pm and 6.30pm, when a lot of them are at work and unable to attend. And it was only announced two days ago.
It seems a bit odd seeing as the club has known this was coming for 100 years.
Thursday evening has been set aside for a night with legends, such as Vinnie Jones and Tony Yeboah, at Elland Road, but seats are £200-a-head, so most fans are priced out.
Some other fans complained about the centenary kit not being announced but to be fair to Leeds this was always the plan.
The kit – which we’re expecting to be very traditional and all-white – is set to be announced shortly before the Birmingham game, certainly not before the end of the week.
We agree with these fans though. It’s been a bit of a damp squib, with one saying his Inbox is full of merchandise but where’s the payback for the fans?
