‘Can’t wait’, ‘On the bench?’ – Some Leeds fans excited as loanee striker says he’s heading back
Leeds United fans were hoping to see big things from youngster Rafa Mujica, who signed on a free transfer from Barcelona B in the summer of 2019.
The striker has been sent out on two loans since, with the latest being at Villarreal B, where he’s scored four goals in just seven games.
Now, he’s sent a message saying that he’s going to be back at Leeds ‘soon’ and that’s got plenty of Leeds fans excited.
Leeds need some help in the striking department.
It looks like they’re going to have to secure promotion with just Patrick Bamford up top this season.
Jean-Kevin Augustin has gone back to RB Leipzig after Leeds chose not to extend his loan.
He only played 48 minutes in a disastrous loan spell and it looks like Leeds are trying to get out of the obligation to sign him on a permanent basis.
Some Leeds fans are hoping that Mujica can play some part in the run-in, with one even asking if he’s going to be on the bench against Blackburn, but that’s almost certainly not going to happen.
If Mujica has a future at Leeds then it’s going to be in the future. He hasn’t spent time with the Under-23s yet and everyone should know how Marcelo Bielsa works by now.
However, the message from Mujica spells out that he thinks he’s got a future at the club and it will be fascinating to see where he slots in for pre-season.
In the meantime, here are the best reactions from excited Leeds fans…
