Northampton Town fans were less than impressed by Ryan Edmondson on Saturday as the Leeds United loanee made his debut for the League One club.
Edmondson, 19, spent the first half of the season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen, scoring two goals in 16 appearances for them across all competitions.
However, he has since returned to England and been sent out on loan again by Leeds, but this time to League One strugglers Northampton.
Edmondson was handed his Cobblers debut by manager Keith Curle on Saturday but it was hardly a game for the young striker to remember as he failed to score in the 2-1 defeat to Lincoln City and was substituted off in the 85th minute.
According to stats by Wyscout, Edmondson didn’t have a single shot at goal, completed just eight passes and had zero touches inside the penalty area.
In fact, the loaned-out Leeds forward offered absolutely nothing for Northampton going forward. Zero passes into the box, zero dribbles, zero progressive runs and zero fouls won.
We don’t mean to be harsh on young Leeds players but Edmondson had an absolute shocker on Saturday – and a number of Northampton fans have made that very clear on Twitter.

That's the best football I've seen us play for a VERY long time. Like the look of Morris who wants to drop deep to get on the ball and looks to pick a pass, Shame Miller went off, thought he had a good attacking attitude, Edmondson yet to offer too much. #ntfc

Not impressed at all so far. New faces, same old rubbish.

Early days, but Edmondson may as well not have been on the pitch today. Hope he gets up to speed quickly #ntfc

One Leeds fan even managed to watch Northampton to see how Edmondson got on during his debut for the Cobblers.
However, even he has worries about the young striker’s spell there.
Watching Edmondson for Northampton today and I do worry about him there. Doesn't have the same physical advantages he has in 23s football and Northampton don't create a whole lot. His movement is quite static and doesn't have much pace. Needs to be clever and clinical. #LUFC

Edmondson’s rotten Northampton debut is one he needs to put to the back of his mind quickly.
There’s one good thing and that is the fact he actually started the game so he’s clearly in Curle’s first-team plans.
Getting game-time is crucial but for him, getting game-time and playing well is even more important if he wants to have a future at Elland Road.
In other Leeds United news, the Premier League have ordered the Whites to install AstroTurf at Elland Road.
