Tyler Adams 'cost his team' after incident in Leeds United 4-3 defeat v Tottenham - Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Tyler Adams “cost” Leeds United on Saturday as his sending-off effectively killed the game in the 4-3 loss at Tottenham, according to Paul Robinson.

Adams, 23, was shown yellow cards in the 71st and 87th minute, meaning Leeds ended the game at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium with 10 men and that the USA midfielder will miss the first game back after the World Cup break against Manchester City.

It was a frantic game in North London that Robinson feels could have gone either way up until the late point when Adams got himself sent off.

“They were silly yellow cards,” Robinson told MOT Leeds News.

It could have been avoided quite easily. Keep your emotions in check.

It’s hard, yes. It’s difficult. But at that stage of the game, emotions were running high and he didn’t handle that moment in the game very well.

He cost his team, and they were down to 10 men.

There was always a way back into the game for Leeds. It never seemed like it was over until that red card, which was silly.”

Adams has been a stand-out player for Leeds since joining from RB Leipzig in the summer.

He played well against Spurs despite his red card and there’s no doubt he’ll be a massive miss against Man City on 28 December when the Whites return to Premier League action.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are in pursuit of a “phenomenal” Argentinean goal machine.
