'Tough start' – Exclusive: Pundit predicts scoreline for huge Leeds clash v Cardiff

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has predicted that Leeds United will beat Cardiff 3-1 in the early kick-off on Sunday.

If that is the final score it would see Leeds conceding their first goal in six games – but Leeds fans won’t care if the three points came back to Elland Road.

Robinson warned about Leeds’ vulnerability from set-pieces but said that Marcelo Bielsa’s men will simply have too much for Cardiff.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “I think Leeds will win 3-1.

“Vulnerability at set plays could come into it, but I think they’ve got too much for Cardiff.

“I think they win 3-1. It’s a tough start for Leeds with Cardiff first and then Fulham at Elland Road on Sunday but I think they’ll get it done.

“The good thing for Leeds is that, failing that, they’ve got some easy fixtures coming up afterwards.”

A win and a clean sheet would be the dream for Leeds fans and would keep their incredible run going from before lockdown.

However, no one really knows how games are going to play out behind closed doors and all fans care about are the three points.

By the time Leeds play on Sunday, they’ll know how their promotion rivals have got on.

Fulham welcome Brentford in the first Championship kick-off at 12.30pm while West Brom play Birmingham in a midlands derby at 3pm.

If Fulham and West Brom both lose, Leeds will be able to play with a lot less pressure on them.
