We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that Ian Poveda will be the next breakthrough star for Leeds United.
The 20-year-old signed in January from Man City but hasn’t made his debut for the senior team yet.
He made the bench for the first two games after he signed but has only been seen in the Under-23s since.
However, Robinson dubbed him a “top, top player” and that Leeds fans would see the true Poveda next season.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I think we’re going to see Poveda come through next season. Leeds have signed him for a reason, Bielsa knows he’s a top, top player.
“He’s played with the Under-23s, he came into the squad immediately and then disappeared so he’s obviously not at the level or fitness level yet.
“But I think he’s getting his grounding in the Under-23s and there’s so much more to come from him.
“He’s going to be a top player and next season I think we’re really going to see the best of him.”
Leeds fans are desperate to see what Poveda can do and got a glimpse in the Under-23s game against Barnsley earlier this month.
He made a goal for Bobby Kamwa after a brilliant bit of skill down the right-hand side.

Some fans have been worried by his absence from the first-team but Robinson is convinced Poveda is one for the future.
