Sources: Leeds line up approach to sign Fabio Carvalho in January, loan deal on the cards

Fabio Carvalho is one of several attacking players being considered by Leeds United, MOT Leeds News understands.

Leeds United have had a solid start to the campaign, but concerns have still been lingering over their lack of attacking threat.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has struggled in particular this season, making it fairly likely that the Whites will be in the market for another striker come January.

However, creativity is also on the mind of the Leeds hierarchy, and Carvalho could be the man to rectify that at Elland Road.

Leeds prepared to fight Bundesliga interest to sign Fabio Carvalho

Florian Plettenberg reported via X over the weekend that Carvalho could leave Brentford on loan in the winter, with the Bundesliga looking like a strong option for the 23-year-old.

However, MOT Leeds News has learned that Leeds United also hold an interest in the Portuguese creator, who has struggled for game time under Keith Andrews.

Carvalho has made just seven appearances for the Bees this season, and he has started just one Premier League game.

He spent the latter half of the last campaign on loan at Hull City, where he registered an impressive 11 goal contributions in 20 appearances.

The former Liverpool star can play in various attacking positions, which is something that Daniel Farke has seemingly been a fan of throughout his time at Elland Road, as demonstrated by the inclusion of Brenden Aaronson in particular.

Marcelo Bielsa was once a fan of Fabio Carvalho

Carvalho has had a turbulent career since leaving Fulham back in 2022, and it could have been very different for him.

Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds were linked with Carvalho in the January transfer window, and it was no surprise given the attributes that he was often attached to throughout his time with the Whites.

Bielsa was a big fan of technically gifted attackers, and after emerging on the scene as a teenager, Carvalho certainly fit that bill.

He was quick, agile, and posed a threat from distance, which are three things that would have been perfect for that side three years ago.

If Leeds can secure his services this January, it would certainly get Bielsa’s seal of approval.
