Sky Sports pundit thrilled as Leeds United agree multi-million Tyler Roberts exit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United...

Paul Robinson is glad to see Tyler Roberts secure a move away from Leeds United with the Wales international joining QPR earlier this week.

On 6 July, the 23-year-old agreed terms on a deal that sees him join the Championship club on loan for the season with an option for the deal to be made permanent next year.

The Daily Mail claimed on 6 July that the permanent option agreed between Leeds and QPR is worth £4.5million.

Roberts has had a mixed spell at Leeds but criticism of the ex-West Brom forward hit new heights last season as the Yorkshire club struggled in the Premier League and Marcelo Bielsa continued to play him.

Robinson is now happy to see that Roberts has the chance to start afresh elsewhere, saying that everyone is a winner in the deal.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “I think Roberts has had a very indifferent time at Leeds.

He’s been unlucky at times, he’s been poor and he’s underperformed.

He’s not had an opportunity to show at his best and he hasn’t been at his best.

It’s best for him and for the club [for him to leave].

It’s an opportunity for him to restart his career again.

Going to QPR is going to give him the chance to play every week and get his confidence back.

He was playing without confidence and the fans were getting on his back.

You could see it was a difficult time for him. For him, a fresh start and a fresh challenge is a win-win situation for all concerned.”

Roberts played 23 times in the Premier League for Leeds last season.

In total, he’s made 108 appearances for the Whites and scored just nine goals.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites want to sign this English left-back as Orta continues to work his magic.
