Sam Greenwood attracts suitors as transfer update emerges away from Leeds United

Paul Robinson has suggested that Sam Greenwood will be attracting attention as he continues to impress away from Leeds United this season.

The 22-year-old forward is currently on loan at Preston North End and has already notched six goals and one assist in 17 matches this season, with his deal not expiring until the end of the campaign.

Greenwood has 37 senior appearances for the Whites since making the switch from Arsenal’s academy in 2020 but has been sent out on loan twice in the last two seasons.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said: “He’s got a bright future. He’s given himself every opportunity. When players go out on loan, it’s because they’re not being played or the manager doesn’t think he’ll use them.

“It’s up to him to get the first-team experience, to play every week, and to play in a manner that Leeds have a thought process of whether he’ll play next season.

“He’s still very young and is clearly a very talented footballer, so with the way he’s playing at Preston, there will be other teams interested if Leeds don’t want him. Leeds have an option of bringing a very good player back into the ranks.

Leeds United to sell Sam Greenwood in 2025?

“He’s doing everything that’s being asked of him while out on loan. It’s exactly what the system is for.”

Despite making 37 senior appearances at Elland Road, Greenwood only has one goal to his name and has looked far more comfortable with starring roles on both of his loan spells.

Daniel Farke already has multiple attacking stars at his disposal, with the likes of Wilfried Gnonto, Largie Ramazani, Joel Piroe, Dan James and Mateo Joseph, so selling him could make sense to the Whites.

Fans will have to wait until the summer transfer market to find out what Greenwood’s future holds.

In other Leeds United news, Daniel Farke was applauded for what he did before the Swansea City clash.
